Letton Stone Bonspiel
There was once again a full house for Troon Portland Curling Club’s annual Letton Bonspiel, which was held on Monday, 19 November.
The bonspiel pairs two new curlers with two experienced curlers. This year’s competition was a single 8-end game, rather than several 2-end competitions. Following the match, the curlers enjoyed sandwiches and drinks, and the winners of the bonspiel, and the wooden spoon, were announced.
Coming in first in the competition was skip Betty Beardall, Norman Lawrie, Will Morton, and Ryan Waddell. The wooden spoon award went to Ian Snodgrass, Graham Trantor and new curlers Brian Dalziel and Helen Steele.
As most club members will be aware, Kirsty Letton, along with her husband Jimmy, donated the trophy for the competition in 2001 to mark Kirsty’s rink winning the World Senior Ladies Championship at Braehead in 2000.
Special thanks to Match Secretary David Kerr for helping the bonspiel run smoothly, and to all the curlers who came out for this great event.
